La Manzanilla Mangrove Boat

Join
us for a mystical dawn or dusk journey through La
Manzanilla mangrove. This tour is done in a traditional
panga boat and offers a diverse glimpse at many water
birds. In addition to numerous resident and migratory
bird populations including the Boat-billed Heron,
Red-billed Pigeon, Orange-fronted Parakeet, American
Stork, and Roseate Spoonbill, the mangrove hosts the
second largest population of the American crocodile along
the coast of Jalisco. Opportunities also abound to view
other mammalian life such as the White-tailed Coati and
the Greater Fishing Bat. |

Barranca El Choncho Walking

This
is tour is especially for those interested in seeing a
wide variety of forest birds and doing a little walking.
From La Manzanilla, we drive about 30 minutes to a
canyon called Barranca El Choncho. Here we begin hiking
along a stream shrouded by thick tropical deciduous
forest. We’ll be on the lookout for endemic
Lilac-crowned Parrot, Red-breasted Chat, and West
Mexican Chachalaca, among many others. |
